Tips · تحرير تور سولفرز · ٤ نوفمبر ٢٠٢٥

Group bus vs private car: what each package tier offers and how it affects your pilgrimage experience.

Key takeaways

Group packages use shared buses — economical but less flexible on timing.
Family and premium packages offer private car service — more comfortable and flexible.
The Makkah-Madinah journey takes 4-5 hours by road or 1 hour by high-speed train.
During Hajj, the Mashair train connects Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.
Local transport within cities includes free hotel shuttles, taxis, and ride-hailing apps.

Group Bus Transport

Economy and standard group packages typically use shared buses for airport transfers and the Makkah-Madinah journey. Buses are air-conditioned but schedules are fixed — you travel with your entire group.

Private Car Service

Family packages and premium packages often include private car service. This means a dedicated vehicle for your family or small group, with flexible departure times. Ideal for families with children or elderly members.

Makkah-Madinah Transfer

The journey between the two holy cities takes 4-5 hours by road. The Haramain High-Speed Railway offers a faster 1-hour alternative (when available in your package). Road trips typically include a rest stop.

Hajj-Specific Transport

During Hajj, pilgrims travel between Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah. The Mashair Railway connects these sites. Some premium packages offer private bus service for these transfers.

Local Transport

Within Makkah and Madinah, options include free hotel shuttle buses (for closer hotels), regular taxis, Uber/Careem ride-hailing, and walking. The holy cities are increasingly well-connected.
