Historical Significance
Sa'i commemorates Hajar's desperate search for water for her infant son Ismail. She ran between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times before Angel Jibreel revealed the Zamzam well.
Starting at Safa
After completing Tawaf and drinking Zamzam, proceed to Safa. Upon reaching Safa, face the Kaaba and recite: 'Innas-Safa wal-Marwata min sha'a'irillah.' Then make your personal duas.
Walking Between the Hills
Walk from Safa towards Marwah. Men should jog between the two green light markers (the valley area). Women walk normally throughout. Make dua and dhikr as you walk.
At Marwah
Upon reaching Marwah, face the Kaaba direction and make dua again. This completes one trip. Turn around and walk back to Safa for the second trip.
Completing Sa'i
Continue until you've completed 7 trips, ending at Marwah. After Sa'i, men shave or trim their hair (Halq/Taqsir), and women cut a fingertip-length of hair. Your Umrah is now complete.
