Clock Tower & Shopping
The Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower complex is adjacent to the Haram. It houses a massive shopping mall, food court with international cuisine, and the Clock Tower Museum showcasing Islamic artifacts.
Historical Sites
Jabal al-Nour houses Cave Hira where the Prophet ﷺ received the first revelation. The climb takes 1-2 hours and isn't mandatory, but it's a deeply moving experience. Also visit Jabal Thawr where the Prophet hid during the Hijrah.
Shopping in Makkah
The streets around the Haram are lined with shops selling dates, Zamzam containers, perfumes (oud), prayer beads, prayer mats, and Islamic books. Bargaining is expected at smaller shops.
Dining Options
From Al Baik (Saudi fast food favorite) to international restaurants in the Clock Tower, Makkah offers diverse dining. Bengali and South Asian restaurants can be found in the Misfalah area.
Planning Your Time
Prioritize prayers at the Haram. Schedule sightseeing during mid-morning (after Duha) or early afternoon. Evenings and nights are best spent in worship at the Haram.
